ROBERT W. LAXSON

I have been practicing law for more than three years, having been licensed in October 2022. From the beginning of my career, I have focused on advocating for people facing difficult, high-stakes situations and helping them navigate the legal system with clarity and confidence.

One of the most significant milestones in my career occurred early on, when I became the first attorney in Tennessee to appear before the Court of Appeals prior to being fully licensed, arguing a case at the Supreme Court Building in Nashville. In that matter, I challenged a trial court decision on behalf of my client, and the Court of Appeals agreed—ultimately reversing the ruling and securing a win for my client. That experience shaped my approach to law: thorough preparation, strategic thinking, and unwavering advocacy.

Before opening Laxson Law, I spent more than five years at Robert D. Massey and Associates, where I handled a broad and demanding caseload. My experience includes tragic personal injury and wrongful death cases, serious criminal matters ranging from domestic assault to first-degree murder and Class A and B felonies, highly contested divorce and child custody disputes, probate matters, and complex property and contract disputes. This diverse background allows me to approach each case with a well-rounded perspective and a deep understanding of how different areas of law intersect.

I am actively involved in the legal and local community. I currently serve as President of the Giles County Bar Association and Vice President of the Pulaski Exchange Club. I am also a member of the Tennessee Bar Association House of Delegates, the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, and the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In 2025, I was honored to be named one of the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 Criminal Defense Lawyers.

My educational path is rooted in service and teaching. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Martin Methodist College (now the University of Tennessee Southern) in 2011, and I graduated from Nashville School of Law in 2022. Before returning to law school, I spent ten years as a high school teacher and baseball coach, teaching subjects such as Chemistry and Physics at Huntland High School, Giles County High School, and Lincoln County High School. That experience continues to influence how I practice law—by explaining complex issues clearly and empowering clients to make informed decisions.

I chose a career in law because I wanted to help people during some of the most challenging moments of their lives and to make a meaningful impact at the local, state, and national level. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and children. Together, we stay active through sports like baseball, basketball, football, and gymnastics, and we enjoy the outdoors through camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting.
